I try not to let the stuff I like define me or my social circle. My default activity is walking around the city, exploring. I blog about garbage. I mix well, am not shy. I lead unofficial walking tours of the outer boroughs. I'd like to think I enter a debate willing to be convinced. I travel a lot for my job, mostly to Africa. The silver lining to spending a lot of time in airports and on planes is that it gives me time to read novels and consume lots of music and magazines and of course, in flight movies, which helps to take the edge off of international development work. The far better part of the work is meeting brave and amazing activists. I care about politics but am suspicious of narrowly defined causes. Creative people energize me, though I sometimes get impatient with artistic self-indulgence. I don't usually start so many sentences in a row with I.
My Ideal Person:
I haven't quite figured it out yet. Generally, someone who brings out my lighthearted side. Someone who gives more energy than he drains. Getting along with my friends is also key.
The last great book I read Unaccustomed Earth
Favorite on-screen sex scene Enemy at the Gates (in the barracks without waking up the other comrades)
Five items I can't live without eggplant, flowy pens, big earrings, headphones, bug spray
